Toronto poster
Three colour silkscreen poster by Doublenaut, edition of 100, on sale at last night's show and via the Doublenaut store
Regular readers will know I'm a big fan of these screened posters. Let's hope this North American tour turns up a few goodies, there were plenty in 2008 and 2009.
Anyone seen any for other 2011 shows? Any ideas on which poster artists are involved in the Mogwai tour series this time?

Martinless
All being well, Mogwai's North American tour should finally start in Montreal tomorrow night (Monday 25th April)
For entirely positive family reasons, Martin Bulloch is unable to join the band for this tour. His place behind the drumkit will be taken by James Hamilton of Errors. Those of you who've been lucky enough to see Errors play live will know that James is a fantastic drummer.
Unfortunately, Errors won't be supporting Mogwai at the Montreal and Toronto shows this week. Reason unknown at present, and they haven't indicated that they won't be playing in Vancouver so presumably it's not an issue with Canadian visas. Anyone know who is supporting in their place?

Mexican Grand Prix promo
There's been a noticeable lack of physical promo copies of 'Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will' or its associated singles. The only one I've come across so far is pictured above.
1 Mexican Grand Prix [5:15]
2 Mexican Grand Prix (Radio Edit) [4:11]
Rock Action ROCKACT54P
Body-printed CDr, black and white printed card insert
Track credited to Mogwai/Sutherland
The 'missing minute' has been shaved off by removing a few seconds of beats from the start, fading out 20 seconds more quickly at the end, and by the removal of a couple of sections (totalling approx 35 seconds) from the main body of the track.
Anything else interesting around?

'How To Be A Werewolf' on NPR
'How To Be A Werewolf' was Song Of the Day on NPR yesterday.

http://www.npr.org/2011/04/11/135314619/mogwai-tearing-through-the-noise
After Special Moves, a 2010 live album showcasing its best material, Mogwai is ditching the nostalgia and moving on to a new sound. The Glasgow band is often touted for the cinematic dynamics and slow-building instrumentation of its early albums, but recent releases have been more outspoken than ponderous. The new Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will might be Mogwai's most straightforward album yet, getting down to the basics of what makes this a rock band.
"How to Be a Werewolf" welcomes the listener with looped hums, but it's not long before heavy drums bring tempo into the equation. Atmospheric hums swell in the background against warm bass, as the song builds into a hypnotic drone of repetitive guitar phrases. Soon, a wall of distortion brings the music to a voluminous plateau while a piercing solo tears through the noise. At this point, Mogwai begins to feed on its own energy: The music's meticulous start has transitioned into a full-on jam session.
Mogwai doesn't milk the moments between these highs and lows, but the group's signature peaks and valleys are still here. They're just more concise.

Flow Festival - 12th to 14th August
Mogwai are confirmed to play Flow Festival in Helsinki, Finland. The festival takes place from 12th-14th August.
Mogwai play either 13th or 14th, as they're at Route du Rock in St Malo, France on 12th August. Given the distance from St Malo to Helsinki, 14th August looks the more likely date.
