Burning/Special Moves confusion

If my email inbox, and the comments on this blog, are anything to go by, there's a degree of confusion around Mogwai's forthcoming Burning/Special Moves live releases. Hopefully this might clarify things:

'Burning' is a 50-minute live film by Vincent Moon and Nataniel La Souanec, comprising footage shot over three nights at sold-out shows in Brooklyn on April 27th, 28th and 29th 2009 at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg. The songs featured in the 'Burning' film are:

- The Precipice
- I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead
- Hunted By A Freak
- Like Herod
- New Paths to Helicon pt1
- Mogwai Fear Satan
- Scotland's Shame
- Batcat

'Special Moves' is a live album, comprising of audio recordings made over three nights at sold-out shows in Brooklyn on April 27th, 28th and 29th 2009 at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg. There are two versions of 'Special Moves':

Deluxe triple vinyl box set - 17 tracks, tracklist here

CD - 11 tracks, tracklist here. The six extra tracks featured on the vinyl version of 'Special Moves' will be available as a free download to those purchasing the CD.

Both vinyl and CD versions of 'Special Moves' will accompanied by a DVD of the 'Burning' live film.

'Special Moves' is neither a film nor a DVD.

Come On Die Young reissue - 2010

Mogwai confirmed some time ago that they were working on a reissue of 1999's 'Come On Die Young'.

From today's Chemikal Underground mailout:
Our fifteenth year will feature a variety of shows and events, details of which we've not quite figured out ourselves, but you can be pretty sure of live shows up and down our sceptered isle along with a number of special reissues including a revamping of Mogwai's Come On Die Young as well as The Delgados Great Eastern.
There's also some Arab Strap reissues on the way, including a potentially-spectacular boxset.

Stuart in Glasgow last night

Stuart played (via Twitter) a Washington Phillips song, two Spacemen 3 songs and two Mogwai songs (Cody and Devil Rides) at the Natty Brooker exhibition opening at Mono, Glasgow last night (17th January).

Reviews, photos?
Recordings?

Update:
Really nice night. Stuart opened and mentioned that various prints of Natty Brooker's work were for sale. St Deluxe followed with a driving set of Spacemen 3 covers, and the DJs Will Carruthers and Joe Foster pumped out some very danceable tunes all night. A really nice night in a very pleasant environment.

Stuart's set -

What Are They Doing In Heaven Today? (Washington Philips cover)
CODY
Devil Rides
Walking With Jesus (Spacemen 3 cover)
Lord Can You Hear Me? (Spacemen 3 cover)
Thanks James.

Lists

Stuart's favourite Mogwai shows of the 2000s, as posted on Twitter last night:

1 Santiago, Chile 2002
2 Royal Albert Hall, London, England 2006
3 Reykjavik Iceland 2001
4 ATP NY 2008
5 Fuji Rock Japan 2001

[Entirely unrelated] From Dear Scotland:
What should the Scottish national anthem be?

We Were Promised Jetpacks:
There was some “internet movement” or whatever about making 'Mogwai Fear Satan' the national anthem. I think that’d be good. But the best one would be anything by Jocky Venkataraman.

Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai (on hearing that We Were Promised Jetpacks suggested 'Mogwai Fear Satan’):
Thats very nice of them! I would say that Flower Of Scotland or Scots Wa Hae are both good choices. Anything but God Save the Queen!!
