Aidan Moffat on touring

http://thequietus.com/articles/04356-aidan-moffat-the-worst-gig-i-ever-played-a-few-i-ve-been-to
It's a wonder anyone ever came back to see us after the first couple of tours we did, especially when we did a tour with Mogwai around 1997. Mogwai's agent vowed that we would never play with them again because we were a bad influence on them and caused them to fuck up their gigs by encouraging them to do too much drink and drugs, but I can assure you they needed no encouragement from us.

Does it go without saying that anyone reading this with 70 quid to spare NEEDS to buy the Arab Strap boxset if they haven't already done so?

Mogcast 4

The fourth Rock Action podcast is here:
http://radiomagnetic.com/main-features/mogcast-4/

This month on the Mogwai Rock Action Podcast, I’m lucky to be joined by Andy and Ben from premier table rock combo Fuck Buttons. We all take turns playing songs whilst sweating profusely in a post Thai curry daze. The boys chose some great music that I hadn’t heard before. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Notable for including the first airing of Mogwai's remix of Twilight Sad's 'The Room'

Mogwai 'unreleased songs'

The CD pictured above sold on ebay last month. Anyone know whether it's genuine? The tracks date from around Rock Action, and the Mogwai logo printed on the disc is of the same era, as are the contact details.

The buyer tells me there's actually seven tracks on the disc rather than the five listed. I wonder what they are? Maybe a couple of them are the other two tracks from the Travels In Constants ep (Untitled and Arundel)? Stuart has regularly mentioned in interviews that Mogwai recorded numerous so-far-unreleased tracks during the Rock Action recording sessions in 2000. Intriguing.

Update:
A false alarm, sadly. Tracklist:

1. Close Encounters
2. Close Encounters (same version as track 1)
3. D To E
4. Drum Machine
5. Untitled (Japanese version of Rock Action)
6. Quiet Stereo Dee
7. Untitled (Travels In Constants EP)

All previously released back in 2001.

Burning in August

As many of you will have already seen, the estimated release date for the Burning/Special Moves live album and DVD package has been moved to late August 2010.

Stuart's explanation from the forum:
The release in June became impossible as we made some very last minute changes to the film. We were advised by a lot of the folk working on the release that July is a terrible time to put a record out and thats why we settled on August. I apologise but that said i think the most important thing is getting it right and making sure that as many people know about it as possible. SB
