YESTIVAL TOUR TO VISIT ORKNEY ON MONDAY 21ST JULY

TRAVELLING FESTIVAL OF CULTURE AND POLITICS PART OF 'SUMMER OF INDEPENDENCE'

A travelling 'Yestival' will reach Stromness on July 21st as part of a cultural tour in advance of the independence referendum.

The tour of culture and politics has been organised by National Collective, the cultural campaign for a Yes vote, as part of a summer of independence – with some of Scotland's top writers, musicians and artists involved.

The tour will reach the Royal Hotel, Stromness at 8PM (doors 7:45PM) and will be free to attend. The Stromness event will feature Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite performing a solo set plus a screening of the film Scotland Yet.

On Tuesday 22nd July, the tour will then proceed to Kirkwall where there will be an evening of music, spoken word and Journey to Yes. Acts include Stuart Braithwaite, Jamie Marshall, Erin Farley, Declan Welsh, Stewart Shearer, Lorraine McBrearty and James Watson.

Yestival has been endorsed by artists including Julie Fowlis, who featured in Pixar film Brave; RM Hubbert, 2013 Scottish Album of the Year winner; and leading playwright David Greig.

The Yestival tour has been funded by donation, with more than £30,000 being donated by supporters through online crowdfunding.
